Fruit of the Spirit – Self Control

You cannot control people, what they do, or how they think.

What you can control is your reaction to them. Don’t ever allow a person’s actions distract you from being who you are.

Be who God made you to be. Accomplish what God has called you to. You have work to do. Don’t allow the enemy’s tricks to stop you.

Walk in the Spirit and exercise self control!

Remember Who You Are

Romans 8:14-15

14. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

15. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.”

Sometimes I have to take a step back and remember who I am. Remember I was raised better than I am behaving.

Because of our fleshy nature (if we are not careful), it is easy to slip from acting as a son to acting as an illegitimate child. When we lose sight of who we are, our behavior does change. We slip back into those old habits and ways of doing things.

We have silently and unconsciously taken on the mentality of bondage, but yet still free. However, if we don’t remember who we are fast enough that mentality will become real and we will find ourselves back in bondage. Doing the very things we hated and despised in others.

If we allow God to lead us, we are then the sons of God. We have become adopted by him, and we can call him father. If we do not allow him to lead us, to guide our lives, then we’re are illegitimate. We want the benefits of sonship, but none of the responsibilities of being a son. This person cannot call him father. Why? Because God does not recognize him as a son.

If you are like me, and at times the daily struggles of life have caused to to forget you are a son, there is still hope. Repent, and ask God to forgive you. Then just get back line by allowing God to be the head of your life. Let him guide your footsteps. Acknowledge him in all of your ways so he can direct your path.

Remember who you are.

Bless Us, God

Psalms 67:7

“God shall bless us;

and all the ends of the earth shall fear him. ”

My prayer of Thanksgiving on this evening is this:

Thank you God for the multitude of blessings you have poured on us. So much so that people stand in wonder on how we made it through. But the truth of the matter is you God were behind the scene orchestrating every thing so you would receive the glory.

Thank you for keeping us even when we did not understand what was going on. Thank you for separating us from people and influences that would have distracted us while we were going through.

Thank you God for bringing us through the other side. We are not only closer to you, we are also stronger. You alone are worthy of my praise.

It is a blessing to share the testimony you given us!

What about you?

What have you been through?

Are you stronger for having gone through?

People will never understand everything about you, but they definitely see God’s hand on you.

God’s blessings on you are apparent to all. Share your testimony as God directs you. The people will have no choice but acknowledge our God, and fear (reverence and respect) the only God who works true wonders.

A New Creature

Galatians 6:15

“For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature. ”

True lasting change can only come from God. We can make changes in life, if we have will power and a strong mind. Most of the time, the changes we make are not life long. The change lasts just as long as our will power lasts.

God is a life changer. When he comes in changes occur. Lasting changes. The scripture says 2 Corinthians 5:17:

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. ”

Contrary to popular opinion, God has requirements of his people. He expects us to allow the things that he has killed in our lives to remain buried.

However, because we are inherently disobedient, we are tempted to go back and fetch those buried bones. Many people choose to go back and revive old habits without shame. We feel because we are not “as bad” as we use to be, that we are acceptable to God.

The truth of the matter is, your progress does not impress God. He expects you to be (remain) a new creature. Forsaking what you used to be – the old man; and accepting what he has called you to be – a new creature. It is human nature to want to compromise. But our father does not compromise, neither does he accept compromise from his children. His word is immutable (unchanging).

Let go of the past. Stop looking back. Looking back causes you to long for “old times”.

Focus on the present and prepare for the future. Take the lessons you have learned from your past, apply them to your present and enlarge your territory for the future. Go forth and conquer in the name of Jesus – but you must be that new creature.

If you have gone back to pick up God-buried items, repent and give them back to God.

If you are in the “temptation” phase, lean into God. Let his strength be yours – he won’t fail you. Through him, you can endure as a soldier.

If you are not currently in a battle, give praise to God in your season. Be a source of prayer, comfort, and strength for your brothers (and sisters) who are going through. We need each other – all the time.

Speak It…

There is power in opening your mouth and declaring a thing.

Keep saying it until you believe it. Once your faith is involved God will bring it to pass.

Give it a try. Activate your faith and declare what God has commanded you to be.

Change The Game

Galatians 5:16

“This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. ”

If you are struggling with issues such as infidelity, jealousy, trying to out do someone, anger, envy, or control, then it is time to change the narrative of your life.

Understand that all of the is within your power to change. And it can be done right now. It is as simple as changing how you walk.

Now I say simple, because the instruction is easy. However, the challenge is in the follow through. This simple answer goes against your natural instinct. But by being consistent in the follow through you will find that you are no longer struggling with these types of things at all. Or at the very least, you do not struggle with them to the degree you were previously. (We all fall a little some time – but key is getting back up Quickly).

That simple answer to the problem? Walk in the spirit! The benefit to this is that by doing so you will no want to fulfill the list of the flesh. The things are otherwise know as Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings.

What is walking in the spirit? It is simply, allowing God to lead you in every aspect of your life. Reacting to outside stimulants, situations and circumstances in a way the lines up with the word of God.

This sounds like a huge ask, and down right impossible to achieve. It may also sound like it removes the ‘fun’ out of life. This is not so, but it is a lie that the enemy has sown to keep us in bondage.

By walking in the Spirit you gain so much more: But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance:

I would rather have these things over any thing else every day of the week.

It is not to say by walking in the spirit you will never have issues (problems, trouble, illness) that attack you. However, by walking in the spirit, you have successfully changed the narrative of your life. You are now in a position to handle everything that comes your way, and in a positive manner. You can avoid pitfalls that use to ensnare you, receive healings and deliverance from “you” issues.

What is a “you” issue? These are the things that would cause you to say – this is just me, deal with it. No honey, that is a “you” issue and you need to be delivered from it. Let us stop trying to force people to live with and accept things. When the reality is we need to work on us a little more.

Change the game. Walk in the spirit and be free. Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. Galatians 5:1.

Be blessed!

Transition to ‘Now’

Daniel is 4:37

“Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase. ”

We all have a past. We all have had a time where we did not acknowledge Or even know God. We were living our life just to please ourselves. Doing everything thing we could find to do under the sun. But God has a way of waking us up, and causing us to bow a knee to him.

We call this transition by many names. I have heard ‘hitting bottom’, ‘God called my name’, ‘failure’, and ‘I tried everything, every thing failed so I tried God’. Call it what you may, the bottom line is God has a way to showing you who he is, and drawing your attention towards him.

Nothing that is good is achieved is done without God. There are many successful people who don’t know or acknowledge God. They achieve great success in their chosen field. Many may say they did it without God. But the truth is, just like Nebuchadnezzar, God’s blessing was upon them because the great tree of their success is there to provide sustenance for the people of God.

God is a master planner. He has a way of reigning in every heart that refuses to acknowledge him willingly. We see the fall and scandals of people everyday. God is doing what he has always done. Arranging things and situations where we run to him or fall. Nebuchadnezzar had the dream and Daniel gave him the interpretation. We call this a warning. But even with advance knowledge, Nebuchadnezzar never had the thought to change to avoid his fall. He thought his greatness would be enough protection.

But God is also faithful. He allowed Nebuchadnezzar to come back to his right mind. In Daniel 4:37, we see Nebuchadnezzar’s testimony, “Now, I praise and extol, and honor the King of heaven…” He says ‘now’ because prior to that he refused to do so. He believed that all he had accomplished was done on his own. He was glorying in his power as king. But God is the King of Kings. He will bring down every heart that is puffed up in pride. We all have been here at some time in the past.

We all have a ‘Now’ experience in our lives. We all have pasts and done foolish things. We have experienced failures and hopefully learned from them. Either way, we serve a God that transitioned us to ‘now’. And I am so glad he did. The alternative would be to continue in our foolishness, and miss heaven. Nothing is worth that.

Thank God for the Transition to ‘now’.

The Foundation for Blessings

Daniel 3:30

“Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, in the province of Babylon. ”

When it comes to success, there are no short cuts. We must do the work in order to reap the reward. In God, the work revolves around obedience. Your ability to obey God’s word will is your guarantee of success.

The word of God is our roadmap. It’s your playbook. We must jump into the word to find our way. We must meditate on the word. Sometimes the thing we must do to be blessed may not taste good to us, but it is always good for us. It is not easy to love and show love to the ones that have hurt us, betrayed us, and lied on us. But we must love them, bless them, and not curse them. This is the will of God.

In your obedience is your blessing.

Looking at the story of the 3 Hebrew boys, there are some things we know about God, that there should not be any need to consider an answer when it is brought into question. We know our God is a jealous God and will not allow us to worship another false god. For he is the only wise and true God. When the requirement of the King came to worship the false god he made of gold. The answer for them was easy. Obedience kicked in, and they obeyed God instead of man.

We must have the same attitude. Yes, your obedience may lead you to some hard consequences, but God is ever with us. In Daniel 3, obedience lead Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego into the fiery furnace. Your obedience may cause you to suffer loss, persecution, or ridicule. But just as God was in their situations, he is in yours too.

Your obedience will bring about your miracle.

You cannot get to the next level without obedience. Many are afraid to do the hard thing, or at least what we consider to be hard. No one ever said obedience is always easy. But is it ALWAYS right.

What has God spoken to you to do? What is he leading you to do? Instead of talking your self out of it because it does not make sense to you, just take a step of obedience and faith. Trust God and follow him to the end. Your blessing is on the other side of your obedience.

Don’t Forget Who You Are

Lest We Forget Who We Are…

Galatians 4:28

“Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise.”

To remember is to have in or be able to bring to one’s mind an awareness of (someone or something that one has seen, known, or experienced in the past).

Most of the enemy’s game plan is designed to get you so distracted by his deeds that we forget. We forget who we really are and who we serve. Why? Because knowing this will cause us to take advantage of the gifts, power, anointing, understanding, healing, etc. that comes along with being a child of God. We will take action. We will put some work with our faith and receive from God.

But when the enemy attacks us, afflicts us, causes people to come against us in every way imaginable, we tend to lose focus on this important fact. We are children of promise. God has invested in us and is routing for us (and helping us along the way).

We are built and equipped to withstand – period. We just have to remember that, and act accordingly.

Don’t allow to enemy to make you forget who you are. Stand up in the power God has given you and be great in Jesus name!
